Get to Know Indie Weddings!

Hi! I’m Ali, lady-in-charge at Buffalo & Rochester Indie Weddings! Being a local wedding professional of a unique business helps keep me in touch with exactly what modern, engaged couples are looking for. We strive to showcase the most creative businesses in the WNY area, focusing on members that are 100% local, LGBT-friendly, offering unique products and services. Indie Weddings provides an intimate setting at our shows for couples to connect. Our directory and blog are updated weekly to give you the freshest, most current wedding inspiration in WNY! Find inspiration daily from our social feeds, and even submit your real wedding for a chance to be featured on our blog and channels!

Buffalo + Rochester Indie Weddings began in 2012 under the name Boutique Bridal Party. Myself and Erica were brought together in this community to create a better way to connect the creative vendors that we were with the modern couples who were seeking us, but there was a clear problem…they couldn’t find us and as a community we were passionate to serve our indie couples!

Erica being a photographer (owner of City Lights Studio) and myself being a custom dress maker knew that we, along with our friendors in the community had something really special to offer but needed to create a place to showcase it all. Our intention was to do everything differently.

We wanted to provide a unique and unforgettable indie experience for our couples. This was the genesis for #partyonbrides and putting on the greatest party- experience in WNY for couples planning their unique and creative weddings. The moment they walked in the door at our bridal shows, a bad ass lady DJ was in the lobby to greet them with hip music and the bars were pouring champagne cocktails and serving treats and samples. We instructed all of our vendors to create “boutique” spaces to interact with the brides and grooms on a more personal level. We intertwined the fashion show within the event so the brides could see the gowns and beauty up close and personal at their leisure.  We offered hands on, DIY activities to inspire and engage. We only allow truly local, passionate, LGBT friendly businesses to participate in our events. And we. Had. A. BLAST doing it!

We changed the game for local bridal shows, making the entire experience one that excites and inspires brides and grooms and packed them full of so much value by showcasing the best of the best. We have poured our hearts into this business and have never stopped evolving, and we don’t plan to stop anytime soon!

After seven years of celebrating with the best in Buffalo, Erica has made the tough decision to step away from Indie Weddings to focus on her photography career and her family. She looks forward to spending more time with her quickly-growing children, and watching @buffaloindieweddings and @rochesterindieweddings continue to rock the local bridal scene!

I am so grateful for the time we shared building this brand together and all that I’ve learned with her as my partner. We will continue to support and lift each other up to be the best boss lady’s we can be!  Join me in gratitude in wishing Erica every success and make sure you’re following her in her jet-setting adventures with @littleherdadventures and you can always find her in our directory for @citylightsstudio!

To our current members, for other exciting news and updates, we invite you to share with us how you’re prepping for this busy season in our Facebook Group as we’ll be sharing tips and advice for staying organized and on-top of your game through the hustle. This includes some new workshops and events! Can’t wait to see you all at our next events! #partyonbrides #partyongrooms

We put our hearts and souls into everything that we do here at Indie Weddings, and sincerely hope that you can utilize our services to plan your most perfect happily ever after!

xoxo – Ali
